Successful oral tissue regeneration depends not only on the chosen technique, but also on accurately assessing tissue architecture, anatomical risks, and changes over time.

This session explores how CBCT, intraoral scanning, and three-dimensional digital analysis can support the diagnosis, planning, and evaluation of hard- and soft-tissue regeneration. Topics include assessment of the palatal donor site, anterior periodontal phenotype, gingival dimensions, and facial alveolar bone thickness.

Clinical applications will demonstrate how serial intraoral scans and 3D superimposition can objectively measure changes in ridge contour, soft-tissue volume, gingival margins, and recession—helping clinicians move from observing regeneration to quantifying it in three dimensions.

Describe the applications of CBCT in soft-tissue graft planning, including assessment of palatal tissue dimensions and relevant anatomical structures at potential donor sites.
Evaluate the periodontal phenotype in the anterior dentition using digital technologies, including assessment of gingival dimensions, facial bone thickness, and anatomical factors associated with tissue stability.
Explain the principles of three-dimensional superimposition and volumetric analysis of serial intraoral scans for assessing changes in hard- and soft-tissue contours following regenerative procedures.
Apply longitudinal intraoral scanning to monitor gingival recession and periodontal tissue changes, and understand its potential advantages over conventional point-based measurements.
